DCG HISTORY

DCG started sometime in 1999 (that makes us 8 yrs old).in these 8yrs many lives have been affected and transformed. DCG began in the heart of a recent graduate MUK student named Hellen. She was a member of Makerere Community Church and after graduating wanted to serve in the ministry, her desire was to search out and help fellow university students (like herself) walk through some of the issues ladies deal with. She brought her idea to maama Josiah, who encouraged her to pursue it.
The name Deborah care group was chosen with great thought. Taken from Judges 4, the character of Deborah exemplified many characteristics worth imitating. She was a mother to the country, she played an important prophetic role in her country, she was a wise judge and a woman with a strong bold character, so we named ourselves after this strong woman of God.
As with Many beginnings ours was also small. We used to hold our meetings in a room in the white house & when we outgrew this we moved into a larger room in the white house(now a studio), now we have outgrown the shelter.
Maama Josiah has seen many leaders come & go and has grown herself from a reluctant teacher into a mom who desires to teacher her daughters. Her team of leaders helps make DCG.
We are now in our 8th year & many lessons have been taught from temperaments to Love languages, from make up to media, from jewelry making to scrap booking. We have begun our journeys and are determined to finish them. Our goal is to see DCG grow in its impact and influences beyond the gates of MUK into the world to influence many girls to become Proverbs 30:31 women.....for such a time as this!!!!
